How To Scuba Dive

The first step in learning to scuba dive, is to complete the proper scuba diving course and receive a scuba diving certification. Generally, new learners will either go for a “Padi” or a “Naui” certification. Both certification programs are based on the same principles: learning how to scuba dive safely.

Most people will just get the certification that is easiest for them, based on where they live. If the diving center closest to where you live only offers one particular certification (Padi or Naui), then it would make sense to just go with the scuba diving lessons/certification nearest you. However, there is also a Padi “e-course”, which can be completed online.

The Padi e-learning course will teach you the basics of scuba diving and safety, and you can do it right form the comfort of your own home, (and at your own pace). You will learn what the recommended scuba diving gear is, how to use the scuba diving equipment, and the proper safety standards for scuba diving.

Both the Padi and the Naui courses require you to do some actual in-water training, but with the Padi e-learning course, you can do most of the training (IE: the quizzes) from your computer. Then, when the time comes, you can complete the in-water training at an approved diving center (or resort). This final phase of the e-learning course will be taught by a skilled diving trainer.

Once you have your certification, you should then invest in some good scuba diving gear. This is mainly just a matter of personal preference. You can also ask for advice from the scuba diving trainers; they are very familiar with most of the popular scuba diving equipment.
